What Are Your Therapy Needs?

Manual Orthopedic licensed Physical Therapy:

The musculoskeletal system is an integral and interrelated part of the total body and alterations within it effect the entire system as the body is connected. Osteopathic medicine focuses evaluation and treatment on the musculoskeletal system (muscles, bones, and joints) of the body.

Osteopathic medicine is used primarily to increase mobility, reduce pain and to bring the musculoskeletal system into postural balance. The techniques effectively treat headaches, migraines, ringing in the ears, visual disturbances, craniofacial abnormalities in children, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, whiplash syndrome, numbness and tingling in the extremities, as well as, the more common types of pain (joint, spine, referred, post-surgical etc.)

Our osteopathic evaluation allows us to compare progress from week to week in an objective, scientific manner. These techniques form the foundation of our work.

Myofascial Release Technique (MFR)

Fascia (connective tissue) is the covering around all muscles and organs. It is the structure capable of mediating seamless integration throughout the human body. It separates and supports all tissues within the body and allows movement between adjacent structures. Fascia is continuous from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet. The name of this tissue may change from area to area, but all fascia is continuous.

MFR is the mechanical loading of the fascial tissue to stimulate change within the tissue and its surrounding tissues. MFR can be done superficial or deep within the body.

MFR is a great adjunct to all the techniques we do. Once joints are moving freely, we work more superficial or deep to release any lingering tissue restrictions. MFR is beneficial for generalized pain, stiffness, swelling, fibromyalgia, scar adhesions and loss of motion.

Primal Reflex Release Technique (PRRT):

PRRT is based on the notion that over stimulation of the body’s primal reflexes creates pain and facilitates these painful patterns occurring again and again. These reflexes – startle, withdrawal, and the protective joint reflexes – are hardwired into the nervous system of the body for the purpose of survival. When a person experiences a painful or startling event, these reflexes are triggered in an attempt to protect the body.

Unfortunately, these reflexes often persist in a state of hyper-readiness long after the triggering event has passed. When sustained over time, activated reflex responses lead to patterns of pain that are reproduced, repeated, and maintained, interfering with healing and resisting therapeutic efforts to restore natural function.

PRRT addresses muscle and joint receptors along with their spinal modulation. The Primal Reflex Release Technique™ treatment system offers an innovative combination and application of techniques that facilitate rapid “neural reboot.” This neural reboot resets the neural control of joints, muscles, and fascia to release joint restrictions, trigger points, and fascia restrictions not unlike when you reboot your computer.

Individualized Instruction:

Personalized instruction is a pivotal component to our treatments. Exercises are tailored to each client’s needs. They are designed to supplement and enhance movement achieved during a treatment session and to assist the body in improving its overall flexibility and strength as the body works towards balance in between our treatments.

Pilates style of exercise has been around since the 1920′s. It is popular today because of its simplicity and effectiveness. We use Pilates as its philosophy is in line with our own – bringing the body into balance. The exercises demand mindfulness, strength and coordination.

Learn Yoga postures and sequences of movements as part of your overall program. Participants are instructed in proper postures and body mechanics that are comfortable and safe for each individual. Each participant progresses to their highest potential through ongoing individualized instruction and modification. Participants gain flexibility, muscle strength, reduce stress, stimulate organ function and improve mental focus in a nurturing environment.
